Krasna Hora

Krasna Hora (beautiful mountain) is a Certified Organic winery founded in the 1960s. The 7 hectares of vineyards are tended by hand adhering to biodynamic principles, meaning only herbals teas and natural composts are used for fertilizer and pest control in the vineyards. Yields are carefully controlled to 1.3 kg/vine to achieve the intensity and concentration of aromas and flavours they are looking for. All grapes are hand-harvested. All wines are spontaneously fermented, low intervention, and vegan friendly. The winery is located in the sub region Slovacko | Moravia.

The current winemaker is Ondřej Dubas. He is member of the “Mladí Vinaři” or Young Winemakers Association of the Czech Republic.

This wine is unfiltered with a cloudy yellow golden colour.

About Us

We’re John and Brenda Steinsky from PEI. John is a proud first-generation Czech Canadian. Since May 2018, he has served as an Honorary Consul for the Czech Republic in PEI and New Brunswick, also covering Nova Scotia and Newfoundland in an “acting” capacity. In addition to providing consular services to Czech nationals in these provinces, John was keen to promote “economic diplomacy” with Atlantic Canadians, by sharing Czech goods and services they otherwise might not have access to.

Beer and wine seemed like good fits given the proliferation of craft brewing in the Maritimes and local interest in "new old-world wines." Czech wine is often described as "the best wines you’ve never heard of." We’re hoping to change that!
