Riesling / Aurelius Late Harvest
Vinařství Ludwig

Vinařství Ludwig was founded in 1992 by Ludvík Šlancar whose family has more than 100 years of winemaking experience. The winery produces more than 10 product lines, truly something for everyone, including specialty “late harvest” and “selection of grapes” bottles. Ludwig wines have won multiple Platinum, Double Gold, Gold, Silver and Bronze at global competitions including San Francisco, Finger Lakes, Vienna, and Prague. The winery is located in the sub-region Velko Pavlovice | Moravia.

The winemaker is Ludvík Šlancar.

This wine is a blend of Riesling and Aurelius, which is a cross between Neuberger and Riesling. Aurelius is a Czech-specific variety. Both the Neuburger and Aurelius varieties represent a small fraction of grapes planted making wines scarce and of high interest. Gold Medal winner at AWC Vienna 2020 and Double Gold winner at Finger Lakes 2020.

About Us

We’re John and Brenda Steinsky from PEI. John is a proud first-generation Czech Canadian. Since May 2018, he has served as an Honorary Consul for the Czech Republic in PEI and New Brunswick, also covering Nova Scotia and Newfoundland in an “acting” capacity. In addition to providing consular services to Czech nationals in these provinces, John was keen to promote “economic diplomacy” with Atlantic Canadians, by sharing Czech goods and services they otherwise might not have access to.

Beer and wine seemed like good fits given the proliferation of craft brewing in the Maritimes and local interest in "new old-world wines." Czech wine is often described as "the best wines you’ve never heard of." We’re hoping to change that!
