The Lahofer Winery was established in 2003 and rebranded to its current name in 2006. They are one of the largest wineries in the Czech Republic with more than 400 hectares of vines under production. Of these, approximately 100 hectares are farmed organically. They produce a number of product lines with a focus on traditional Czech grape varieties. The winery is located in the sub-region Znojmo | Moravia.

The winemaker is Michal Eller.

This wine is 100% Müller Thurgau. Vintage is 2019. Müller Thurgau is a cross of Riesling and Madeleine Royale.

  • This is a beautiful dry, white summer sipper that pairs beautifully with Maritime cuisine
  • On the palate you’ll taste tropical fruits such as mango and papaya but also stone fruit and citrus
  • Pairs beautifully with fresh fish, lobster, shrimp, scallops, shellfish, salads
  • Serving Temperature: 9-10°C

We’re John and Brenda Steinsky from PEI. John is a proud first-generation Czech Canadian. Since May 2018, he has served as an Honorary Consul for the Czech Republic in PEI and New Brunswick, also covering Nova Scotia and Newfoundland in an “acting” capacity. In addition to providing consular services to Czech nationals in these provinces, John was keen to promote “economic diplomacy” with Atlantic Canadians, by sharing Czech goods and services they otherwise might not have access to.

Beer and wine seemed like good fits given the proliferation of craft brewing in the Maritimes and local interest in "new old-world wines." Czech wine is often described as "the best wines you’ve never heard of." We’re hoping to change that!
